How many Illinois deer?

Since this disease has been going around killing deer, i think they are calling it blue tongue, how many if any dead deer have you found? On our property we have found 2 doe, my neighbor said hes found 10 with some good bucks, and me and my buddy found a dead 13 point on his property.......[:'(]

My wife's friend just mentioned she had found five deer dead in her yard, the last one being an 8 pt buck. She also mentioned blue tongue and we are in central IL, Piatt county! This is the first I'd heard of it being this far south in IL.

I hunt in perry co. and we have founda few but in Randolph co. they are reporting that they have found at least a hundred or more but they are calling it some kind of gnat disease. Apparently the deer are drinking stagnant water which contains the gnats and then the gnats some how make their way up the deers nose and on to the brain where it eventually kills them

ive scouted many hours this year in scott and morgan and no dead deer found. all small water ways are dry, ponds are low yet no dead deer maybe this is contand to certan locations but counties mentioned are very close to me poss. a marsh area prob.????????

I talked to a Illinois conservation officer yesterday, he was from theShawnee forest area.....he said in his opinion this is blown out of proportion, that he just isn't seeing a significant problem with it.....Hope he's right.
