No I havent hunted public land yet this year. Ive been after a nice 130 class 10 pointer on my buddys land. Again this past week I hunted the wrong stand and my buddy watched the big 10 go right to my other stand...

I said the same thing in the deer hunting forum. A couple guys over there ripped into me some. Yea I totally agree you. Who knows if there was a house or vehicles behind that deer when he shot.

Yeah they were being pretty stupid about it. Especially the one guy that said some people are good enough to take 60 yard shots. This is true except for the fact this kid obviously wasn't good enough.

My kid had his 6mo checkup yesterday, got a bunch of shots that didn't agree w/him. So my wife and I spent the night trying to calm him down...which equates to no hunting for me today.

Hunted most of the day, took a break from 11 to 2:30 we had deer moving alot this morning. I gave up my stand to my brother because he wanted to bring his son (11) and this stand can hold 2 people. Wouldnt you know about 8am a big boy comes right by that stand trailing a doe. Brother dropped it with a lung shot, this guy is big bodied and big thick tall rack, only 7 point but a nice mature buck. about an hour later a small 6 point walks in and my nephew shoots it. Glad he was able to get his first deer and maybe the deer gods will reward my good deed. I passed on a med 6 point and had about 6 does through out the morning.

The afternoon had a big group of does across the road from our property as we pull up, and then a nice wide rack steps out, but they headed away from our property. I saw 2 does in the afternoon both hung around my stand from quite some time but noone was following behind. Heading out again tomorrow morning.....I will update tomorrow and try to upload the pics of the big boy. Hope everyone had a great opening day.

How did everyone do? I started to come down with a cold friday night at work bout 9:30. Could not sleep at all friday night. Toughed it out yesterday, seen about 14 does and one buck in the morning. The buck i seen was the same one that was with the 8 i shot last weekend. It's actually a 9 point and a very nice looking deer and i probably would have shot him had i not been tagged out on bucks. He will be a real giant next year if he makes it. He will end up a lot bigger then my 8 without question. It's good to finally see some nice bucks out there. Last evening i went to my spot where i see tons of deer every year, only saw 7 does. Cant figure it out, that spot just isnt as hot as what it normally is. My uncle went there tonight and only seen 1 doe in the entire field. Very strange. I slept in today and did not go tonight. I was exhausted from hunting all day yesterday on no sleep with a bad cold. I only work 3 days this week and then i'll be out there trying it again.

Slow morning, bunch of deer in the afternoon. A wide/tall 6pt (same one I could have plugged on my bday October 29th) came running right by my stand. I whistled, he stopped, and I got a great look at him. Would have been a chip-shot, but he's got another year or two to grow.

Other than that, saw roughly 20 deer feeding in a corn field, with a small buck pushing does around. A couple spikes were following behind, all while the 6pt walked around in the corn field watching the younger deer.

I have the next 2 weeks off of work, but can only hunt around my wife's schedule. [>:]

Seemed like last night, this morning and evening were all very slow at our property. I only saw a few does each time not sure where the bucks went. Gonna take a couple of days off maybe sit in another spot after work but give our property some time then hit it again. Did not seem to hear the shooting like in past years anyone else notice this? I hunt east of Angola.

I noticed the shots werent as many in the past. I did she a few deer this weekend. Opening morning was a good morning saw 5. Never got a shot. Evening didnt see anything and this morning this evening good one saw a whole herd of them feeding in a field.

It was slow. I counted 250 shots from 7-11 normally 350-400 and in the afternoon same thing.
