It will be here before I know it also. I doubt that it will stop me from hunting though. Just have to get them tested.

RE: More CWD in Illinois
I heard it too,What puzzles me is how distant each case is from each other.Rather than in a closer area.
It's not going to stop me from hunting either, thats the worst thing we as sportsman could do i believe.I'll gladly pay for the test kits if need be.
It's not how big the Deer,But the size of the experiance that matters!!

Its not going to stop me from hunting either. I hope there is a way to check our deer next year it would help reasure people.
I guess im not suprised about them finding it here. There was a game farm in Walworth Wis that was quarantined due to having deer with CWD. Some of the deer got out and escaped. Walworth is just north of the IL border right above McHenry County.
Why they didnt do something with the deer farm before they escaped is beyond me...........

Don: We in WI. realize you neighbors to the south of us are still in the infant stages of understanding CWD, but lets not go here. <BLOCKQUOTE id=quotequote:
I guess im not suprised about them finding it here. Because CWD was discovered in WI. first, we must have infected your heard? Got some news for ya, we started intense testing before Ill. Right now we're about 35,000 samples ahead of Ill. Why don't we wait till you guys down there catch up and all the test results are in from both our states before we start casting stones. You never know, we might have caught it from your state! If that turns out to be the case, I'm sorry but we will no longer allow you guys to visit us any more.

RE: More CWD in Illinois
I dont blame Wi for infecting deer in IL,i'm assuming that an infected deer was pushed from the hot zone to Il,possibly during your eradication process.Regardless of who.It was bound to find it's way to IL,and surrounding states, yet to be infected.
I think IL has been testing for about 5 yrs.Until it was found in Wi.I hadn't even heard of it before. We all agree on one thing .We want to save our deer herds. For future hunting.........Tim

RE: More CWD in Illinois
Nub,
Im not trying to cast any stones at all. There where articles in the papers here about the farm with the deer that got loose. From this im not suprised that a deer showed up here in our county since this farm is right near the border. Had this farm been a couple miles south i would have just said it was here in Ill that that had happened. We have game farms here too, and im not sure if they are having a impact on causing CWD or not. But when you read that contaminated deer have been bought and sold in many states you do wonder.
As far as the others i have no idea how this got here. This is something that we all will have to deal with together. The last thing i want to do is point fingers so maybe i came off wrong on my post.
If i came off on blaming Wis i apologize. Im not perfect and do stick my foot in my mouth sometimes.
The other thing is i wonder if what i do read is true sometimes. You read one article and then the next one says something completly different. Makes you wonder what is true??
