Hey Richie!

I was not disagreeing with you about being able to kill, elk, bear whatever, I was just wondering what the difference was. I know down here in the southeastern part of the state, some people got the bright idea to let a couple sows and a boar loose in the Mark Twain National forest. Nobody knows for sure when they were released, but I do know that about 5 years ago, you rarely saw one, or even much sign of where they had been. Now, it's not uncommon to see a group of 10-20 at a time! You also can't go 1/2 a mile through the woods without finding wallows or places where they have been rooting. You are correct about the wildlife code of Missouri being a permissive one. I just wondered why they essentially called an open season on hogs, yet a mountain lion, or bear is protected. Are the lions and bears, a more desirable type of non native animal? Just curious.

I love animals.......they're delicious!

Howdy GrassHopper!! No problem!! I wasn't intending on starting an argument. Just trying to help out with what little I know. Believe me, I would have to give it serious thought about taking a bear or mountain lion out if it came nearby! Especially since the 2 confirmed kills of livestock bya cougar are just a few miles away from where I hunt up by Rockport in the N.W. corner. It makes me wonder what I would do if I heard something charging me at 5:00 A.M. in the morning, in the timber. Well, I know what I would do, but, I am unable to post it here due to pride and the rules!!!LOL!!
I know the M.D.C. calls hogs a an uncontrolable nuisance, and wants them eradicated immediatly. Bears, mountain lions, elk, ect., were once considered native to this state, but are "endangered" here, for lack of better words. I do know that mule deer were once considered fair game just a few short years ago, due to some half-breeds that made their way into the state. But I would have to do some checking to be sure.
