Much Action In Illinois Yet?

RE: Much Action In Illinois Yet?
I was hunting a ridge overlooking a funnel and a bedding area with a crp field at my back. This is a new stand sight that I had not hunted yet. It was raining.I had a doe and a fawn with a 4 pointer and a 8 pointer walking the woods edge about 20 yards from me after only 20 min in this stand. Around 5pm I saw antlers in the bedding area and noticed a huge racked buck and he was with a doe. The doe would put her head down and streched out with her ears back and trot away from the buck and he would run after her. I later had a small spike with a nicer buck following him approach the stand the spike turned and walked toward the larger buck, the larger buck flipped his head and kindof jerked forward as to tell the spike ( stay away). When I left I saw a buck out in the cut corn field with 7 does feeding.Found 3 fresh scrapes in the funnel and a rub within 23 yards of the stand. Its looking good in Illinois . I already filled both of my buck tags and now all Im seeing is bucks everywhere. GO FIGURE!

I went out again tonight to the same stand above the funnel and bedding area. I sat for about an hour and heard deer coming running on the left side of the bedding area, well sure enough it was a doe with a fawn with a buck chasing them and the werent trotting along they were flat out running. I had a 8pt come walking up the funnel at about 5:00pm and if I had a buck tag I could of taken him at 23 yards. I did lay down some esterous scent but I got no reaction out of the buck with it, he just kept on walking up the draw. I originally was going for turkeys in the cut cornfield but after a 15min walk from the parking spot I looked back to see 24 turkeys in the top cut corn field, right across from where I had parked! <img src=icon_smile_sad.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_angry.gif border=0 align=middle>So I gave up the turkey hunt and opted for a doe hunt. The only doe that came into range was a small yearling that wasnt what I was looking for. I cant wait till next week, the hubby starts 2 weeks of vaction and I cant wait to get him in some of these stands, so he can harvest a good buck ,that I can only watch.
