Default Updated 2008 Illinois Bowfishing waters

I have tried to update this for 2008 to the best of my ability but I would appreciate any information others might have concerning these or any other bodies of water within Illinois. This information taken directly from the 2008 Illinois Fishing Information booklet.[/b]

Notes:

(4) The taking of carp and buffalo with bow and arrow is permissible.

(5) Sport fishermen may take carp, carpsuckers, buffalo, gar, bowfin, and suckers by bow
and arrow, and bow and arrow devices.

(7) Sport fishermen may take carp, buffalo, suckers and gar by bow and arrow, or bow and arrow devices during May and June.

(13) Carp and buffalo may be taken by bow and arrow devices from May 1 through September 30.

(18) Sport fishermen may take carp, carpsuckers, and buffalo by bow and arrow, and bow and arrow devises on the entire lake but not within 200 yards of any developed recreation areas.

(36) Sport fishermen may take carp, buffalo, suckers and gar by bow and arrow or bow and arrow devices form May 1 through

August 31

(46) Sport fishermen may take carp from boat by bow and arrow and bow and arrow devices but not within 100 feet of developed recreation areas.

(47) Sport fishermen may take carp, buffalo, suckers and gar by bow and arrow except during waterfowl season but not within 200 yards of any developed recreational areas.

Banner Marsh Lake and Ponds, Peoria/Fulton co. (36)

Carlyle Lake, Clinton/Bond/Fayette co.

Cedar Lake, Jackson co. (5)

Clinton Lake, DeWitt co. (18) Clinton is closed to all boat traffic between the Dewitt bridge and the Route 48 bridge from sometime in October (???)until April 1st.

Crab Orchard Refuge, Williamson co. (4)

Little Grassy Lake, Williamson co. (5)

Dawson Lake, McLean co. (46)

Evergreen Lake, McLean co. (5) Evergreen Lake is closed to bowfishing during archery deer season

Forbes State Lake and Park Ponds, Marion co. (5)

Hennepin Canal – Mainline and Feeder, multiple co. (13)

Hormel Pond, Bureau co. (5)

Horseshoe Lake, Alexander co. (5)

Horseshoe Lake, Madison co. (36)

Kinkaid Lake, Jackson co.

Kinmundy Reservoir, Marion co. (5)

Lake Michigan

Lake Mingo, Vermilion co. (46)

Lake Nellie, Fayette co. (5)

Lake Shelbyville, Moultrie/Shelby co.

Lake Springfield, still questionable, check with the local DNR

Lake Storey, Knox co. (5)

Lake Vermilion, Vermilion co. North of Boiling Springs Rd. but not within 300 feet around the wetland boardwalk

Lyeria Lake, Union co. (5)

Mautino Fish and Wildlife, Bureau co. (36)

Mermet State Lake, Massac co. (5)

Meredosia Lake, Cass co.

Newton Lake, Jasper co. (5)

Old Kinmundy Reservoir, Marion co. (5)

Paris East and West Lakes, Edgar co. (5)

Peabody River King, Pit #3 Lakes and Ponds, St. Clair co. (36)

Pierce Lake, Winnebago co. (7)

Pittsfield City Lake, Pike co. (7)

Rend Lake, Franklin/Jefferson co.

Salem Reservoir, Marion co. (5)

Sam Dale Lake, Wayne co. (5)

Sangchris Lake, Christian/Sangamon co. (47)

Shabbona Lake, DeKalb co. (7)

Siloam Springs Lake, Adams co. (7)

Spring Lake, McDonough co. (5)

Spring Lakes (north and south), Tazewell co. (36)

Stephen Forbes State Park, Marion co. (5)

Washington County Lake, Washington co. (5)

Rivers[/b] such as the Mississippi, Ohio, Illinois, Kankakee, Kaskaskia, and others are generally OK to bowfish but one should check on that particular area or pool for further restrictions.

That looks like it took some time!
Two that I know of are Evergreen Lake is closed to bowfishing during archery deer season, and Clinton is closed to all boat traffic between the Dewitt bridge and the Route 48 bridge from sometime in October (???)until April 1st.

I'm sure there are several others as well.
