Dawson Lake Last Night
#12
Kbi-prez and I went to dawson one time last year in my 14 footer. As long as it is not windy would not be a problem. As I remember there were not a lot of coves. An island or two and a real shallow north end.

It's a no-wake lake so a small boat won't have any problem. (unless of it's windy of course.)
It's not a real big lake. LastSpring the water was down so a shallower drafting boat was needed. Later the water went up and we had no problems with a full load of people and carp on the boat. However, it does get really, really weedy by mid-summer. So don't wait too long.
Also, it's a busy lake during the daytime, particularly on weekends. Sunday night thru Thursday night isprobably best.
You will see some nice bass out there too. Almost big enough to make you want to bring along a fishing pole.

(satellite photo is pretty crummy)

Isn't Dawson one of the lakes we got opened up to bowfishing for the first time last year?
Just think, those big buffs and carp thatyou guys arestarting to pull out might be the tip of the iceberg. That lake has been an untapped resource for a long time.

Yes, Thanks to the local Biologist, Mike Garthaus and regional Land Manager Jim Capels.
We are currently working on several more ways to increase opportunties for bowfishing in Illinois.
