Sunset Lake

So, who's planning on making this one? I'm gonna try to go this sunday (the 14th). It'll be great for the club, especially if we can make a good showing, and in so doing, shoot alot of fish for these people.

I'll make one of them, but I'm still juggling things, so I don't know which date.
It's going to KILL me to sacrifice a whole day to shoot fish when deer season is open. Grrr. I'm out of venison, and I'm getting pretty booked up for weekendslater in the season.
I gotta give the boat a proper christening of fish blood though, and Sunset looks like the perfect place.

I'll bring your canoe down Christine, unless you're going to be up this way this week. I can only haul one canoe at a time, so if I plan on going sunday, I'll just drop it off and try to make another shoot at Sunset with my 'new' boat.

Well, anybody living in central-Illinois knows how crappy the weather was yesterday. And if you're not from the area, it was miserable! I don't think a half dozen fish were even seen. Cloudy, rainy, and cold, which always slows down fish movement. So nothing to add to the fish-count. But it was a great maiden-voyage for Bulzeye and his new one-man-rig. It sure looked like it worked great. He was flyin all over that little lake out there. That boat is going to be fantastic for smaller-calmer bodies of water.Just perfect for the backwater areas we frequent.
Also got to visit with Kendall and Christine at their place. That was a blast. You can definetly tell there are 2 avid archers living in that house. It looked like an archery shop! And of course we were shooting in the yard. (I think I found my dream-longbow that I've been hoping to find).
I'm really looking forward to going back out there, to both Christine and Kendall's, and to Sunset. With a little more sun, I think we could definetly make a big dent in the carp-population out there. The people were really nice and welcoming and the lake was small enough to feel plenty safe in the small boats and canoes we were using, and big enough so that we weren't all right on top of each other. We'll make sure everyone is aware of when we're going out there next.

Hopefully the sun and wind will cooperate.
Thanks to all who came to help out and congrats to bulzeye on thenew fish getter. Looks like a near perfect one person set-up.

The weather was nasty (particularly for grassies) but it was cool to see how much the homeowners were cheering us on.Offering us carp chum, coffee, tips and permission to use their docks and yards.
They were saying that there are 30-40lb grassies in there so if next Saturday doesn't prove more productive, I'll definitely be looking forward to hitting it next Spring.
It's been a while since I've been out in a canoe, that was fun. It was cool having Chris and Steve stop over at the house. Next time bring your regular bows. We'll set up a 100+ yard target and maybe some aerial targets.
BTW Steve, that longbow has your name all over it!

Yes it does! I can't wait to start practicing with it. I'll probably hunt with it this year. I already have a Selway quiver and a dozen barrel-tapered arrows for it.
