During my hunt I shot one doe and our Uber driver quartered the deer that was included as part of the hunt. I tipped him $25. For that and donated the deer to another hunter in camp.
At the end of the 5 day hunt our group tipped the Uber driver 10%. for driving us to and from our stands that were anywhere from 5 minutes to 15 minute drive from camp.

IMO, this tipping thing is out of hand.. It's one thing to tip 15% when you go out to eat, but who ever came up with giving 10% or 15% of the cost of a guided hunt? So, you go on a moose hunt that costs $20,000 and the customary tip is $2,000 to $3,000? I've worked a lot of jobs (construction, delivery, retail, worked for the state, etc.) and I never got a tip and didn't expect one. Doing a job and doing it well is expected regardless of your line of work. Why should someone be tipped for doing a job they were hired to do? How about getting a 10% or 15% refund if a guide does a poor job? That would make more sense...

Tipping is one of the biggest scams I've ever seen. Somehow business owners have managed to pass the expense of paying their employees on to the consumer in addition to the marked purchase price. And they made it into a social issue if you don't tip enough or tip well.
I haven't been many places- but I've been to 5 different countries and only two of them tipped. It was not expected and actually considered rude elsewhere. Although you had to "tip" the guy in the bathroom to get some toilet paper
That being said- I'm a good tipper. Almost always tipping 20% if we go out to eat. More if I feel like it. Rarely less.
I haven't done guided hunts other than a few pig hunts. In that case the group all put some money together and tipped our "guide" ( a local guy who helps the owner run the dogs, prep the swamp buggy and quarter up the hogs at the end of the day) pretty well. More than I make in a day- and he's there having fun lol.
So....I follow the social norms. But I don't particularly agree with them.

That's where I am on it. I worked as a cook through high school and college. Saw how hard most of the wait staff busted their butt. So I take care of them when we go out. I'm sure they're thrilled when they see my four little kids at one of their tables lol.
Still not a fan of it.
