Tipping is one of the biggest scams I've ever seen. Somehow business owners have managed to pass the expense of paying their employees on to the consumer in addition to the marked purchase price. And they made it into a social issue if you don't tip enough or tip well.
I haven't been many places- but I've been to 5 different countries and only two of them tipped. It was not expected and actually considered rude elsewhere. Although you had to "tip" the guy in the bathroom to get some toilet paper
That being said- I'm a good tipper. Almost always tipping 20% if we go out to eat. More if I feel like it. Rarely less.
I haven't done guided hunts other than a few pig hunts. In that case the group all put some money together and tipped our "guide" ( a local guy who helps the owner run the dogs, prep the swamp buggy and quarter up the hogs at the end of the day) pretty well. More than I make in a day- and he's there having fun lol.
So....I follow the social norms. But I don't particularly agree with them.

I am pretty much the same as you, I know going in what is expected and if a man busts his butt to get me an animal I am not going to stiff him. On hog hunts we also pool out money form the tip. I am also not a fan of tipping but in Rome do as the Romans.
