Default Rules for this subforum.

This sub-forum is designed for members to post about good or bad things they encountered on a hunt with an outfitter/guide and think would be valuable to other members considering a hunt with the mentioned outfitter/guide in a searchable reference section for other members researching hunts.

The forum is not meant to resolve complaints which should be resolved by the BBB (Better Business Bureau) or appropriate state agencies or hunting organizations.

ALL HNI rules apply and HNI reserves the right to moderate, edit and or delete inappropriate posts or topics.

Thanks for opening the forum Christine.

For those of you sharing an outfitter review, please keep it clean. This forum is designed to share legitimate complaints or problems with Outfitters/Guides/Hunts and is not a platform to insult other people, call them names or post some personal attack (see rule 12 quoted below). It is meant to give fellow hunters a heads up or warning about problems with guided hunts so they can do further research and make an informed decision before spending their hard earned $$ on a hunt. It is also meant for members to give some legitimate positive feedback for any outfitter or guide they hunted with and would recommend to other members.

With that said, start posting on some hunts.

12. While we encourage lively debate, we will not tolerate personal attacks. Any person attacking another forum member will receive a warning and have their message removed. Any future incident thereafter will result in that member being removed from the forum.

One other addendum to the rules. If you're going to cite a violation of game laws, rules, etc., please include some link and minimal information so other members can determine if your complaint is legit or not. This could include but is not limited to bag limits, no hunting on Sundays, etc. Think of it as if you were having a conversation with other hunters around a campfire. They would likely ask you some questions and want more details.

I've noticed that most responses posted to an OP's topic are centered around some variation of they should have done their homework, checked more references or are simply suspicious because they only have a handful of posts on this website.

This isn't what this sub-forum was designed to do (pile on session against an OP). Regardless of the amount of homework they did (or more often did NOT do), the topics and posts are still a heads up for any members thinking about booking with the mentioned outfitter and are one more reference to check on the quality of hunt, etc. With that in mind, please refrain from from simply telling the OP that they didn't do their homework as it does nothing but bring sinking topics up to the top and doesn't shed any light whatsoever on the outfitter in question. Please PM me if you have a question.

Possibly time for an update. This is one of those sub-forum when dredging up an old topic from 10+ years ago can actually be helpful. If you're researching an outfitter and you see they've continually got poor reviews over 10+ years of time, that outfitter is probably not going to turn things around and you should regard the reviews as a big red flag. Hopefully this forum continues to help members do their due diligence and research on outfitters and even guides.
