Harnesses
Has anyone had any good experiences with harnesses for young boys? My son is 12, about 4-10, 80 lbs. I let him hunt a 10 ft. ladder stand by himself this year without using any safety devise. This year he is now shooting a bow very well and I believe he is ready to move up to hunting a lock-on type stand. Before I purchased a harness I wanted to see if any of yall have found a good, comforatable one for a young man. Thanks for any help.

RE: Harnesses
You just sent shivers down my spine.
Do not, I repeat DO NOT hunt or allow your child to hunt out of an elevated stand without a safety harness. Falls from stands are the number 1 reason for hunting deaths or injury.
Don't be cheap and just get a waist belt either. If you fall with a belt around your waist internal injury can occur. A 3 ft. fall (thats the length thats connected to the tree) with the belt around your waist generates the force of 5 times your body weight. So if your 200lbs, thats a half ton of energy to your organs. If you have the belt up around your chest you run the risk of it compressing the ribs and not allowing you to breath.
All manufacturers make full body harnesses in youth sizes. Look at the "Seat of your pants" or one of the vest types that have the harness built in.
