Do any of you guys use that stuff called "Deer Cane"? The stuff that you just throw out and you don't have to plant it and all that stuff.
Does it work good? How often do you have to put it out? Do deer come in the first day or do you have to wait a couple days? Anything related to this product will be usefull.

I have used it before and I don't like it. The deer never did touch it. The best stuff that I have used is I go to my local feed store and get a bag of granulated mineral salt and find a good spot and just pour it on top of the ground and the deer just tears up it.

I never had good luck with it either. A great home made mixture is solar salt(the kind you use in a water softener),corn, and molasses. Mix it together in a pail, let it sit for a few days in the sun, then put it out. The deer love it!

When you use "DEERCAINE" you don't just throw it out! Read the directions, the can I had said to mix with water then pour on the ground.
It only works at certain time of the year. Late winter thru early summer when the antlers are growing. At least that is the only time it worked for me.
Ordinary salt licks seemed to work just as well. However I didn't do a scientific study to find out which is better

The only way that I have found DEER CANE to work is to use it on a rotten stump and top it off with a little mollasses. I've tried it other ways and it SUCKED. However, the deer have removed a number of rotten stumps in my hunting area in days.

Deer caine is mostly salt,I believe around 80-90%. You probably get better results from 30-06 or another type of supplement. I've used deer caine and it didn't do anything more than a standard CO-OP salt block for cattle
