Bass Pro pales in comparison. I have been to the Mich. and PA Cabelas (PA - 4 times) and was just at the new BPS in NY. There is no doubt that Cabelas is 10x better. More stuff by far. The BPS is nice to have in your town and the fishing selection is good (no more than Cabelas though), but I would easily drive the tree hours to Cabelas over the 1.5 hour to BPS. For example the BPS has no truck accessories and little ATV stuff. Hunting supplies are adequate, but archery selection is a bit small. I would still go to BPS when i was in the area, but wouldn't make a special trip. Just my view.

I live about 15 min. from a Bass Pro Shop so I get there more than any Cabella's. One thing that I really do not like about Bass Pro is that they plaster their name and logo all over their products. I bought a gortex rain jacket on-line from BPS and when I got it there was a big yellow imbroidered patch on the chest and one on the left sleeve. I thought I might take them off but they were stitched through the gortex and I was afraid that I would mess up the water proof qualities.
Another thing that I noticed is that Cabella's has a much better sellection of tall men's clothing. I'm 6'-5" so that's important to me.
