Default Cabelas Vs. Bass Pro Shop

I hear so much on this furum about Cabelas. I never even heard of Cabelas before I came here.
I grew up in SE Kansas/ SW Missouri area. Bass Pro is all I really know.
Is it some sort of Hunting Super store compared to Bass Pro Shop?!?!? Cheaper pricing?? Better Selection?? Exclusive selections??

I mean I know that BP has tons of hunting equipment, along with many other sporting equipment. Fishing, Golf and so on...

I was just curious.

Same type of catalog and sporting goods store. The main store is in Sidney Neb. I think. They also have other stores around the upper midwest, Minn. Wis. You can check them out on line. I think the prices run about the same as Bass Pro. I like them both.

I don't know what store is better or how they compare, but I am absolutely pumped that the Grand Opening of Bass Pro is coming to my small little town here in NY. Spring of 2004.

Epuller,
Go to www.cabelas.com and look up their store in Kansas City! It's definately worth the trip. I've been to both Cabelas and Bass Pro Shops. They are both the same store except cabelas has a little better selection for the midwestern and northern hunter and fisherman.

BTW, I absolutely love the Bass Pro Shops in Springfield, MO too.

Just damn glad they don't have a store in my immediate area where I could work there. My wife would leave me.[X(] Wait a minute...I'm trying to see a down side to this.[&:]

The downside is that you probably spend your 90% of your paycheck there. I've been worried about that. Wondering where I can get a 2nd job to cover the cost so my wife doesn't kick me out of the house. They really do have you by the you know what!!!

Sweet!!!!! I love my Bass Pro Shop down here in Springfield MO. It is the original and man have they made a ton of add-ons and renovations. They have a Museum now that is just amazing. Huge Bronze 10 pt buck standing over a waterfall in the front of the building. Awesome sight!! Very impresive store.

It is only a spit away from Branson MO so it has gotten alot of attention the past 10yrs or so.

Also I believe that there is going to be a tour of Monster bucks going around to all the BPS's for everyone to view.

They're pretty much the same when it comes to their stores, but I think the Cabelas catalog is better and a little more complete.

I travel alot wiht my job and have been to Bass Pro in GA (great store), Cabelas in Sydney NB, (awesome store) and the new Cabelas in Kansas City (another great store).

You can't go wrong with either, they're like Vanilla or Chocolate. I prefer Cabelas but can't really say why.

...Same here. I like Cabela's. [:-]

But then again, it's like comparing a Snicker's to a Three Musketeer's. Both are candy bars and both are very good.

Cabela's and Bass Pro Shop have 95% of the same stuff in their catalogs and darn neat spot of prices too. If you don't buy from one, buy it from the other. It makes no difference.

It's MOST UNFORTUNATE here in Ontario, Canada we're deprived of that privilege, of having either of these two super stores. So it's all shopping with catalogs/internet. From my experience, Cabelas delivery time is much faster compared with Bass Pro. Nevertheless, I do shop at either. Their prices and products vary a little.
BP has discontinued 'free delivery' of their catalogs to Canada, but Cabelas still provide that service, and that's excellent!!
On visits to the USA the first stop, after a gas station, is a Cabelas or BP, then it all goes down hill from there.

We have a down-sized BPS here in Memphis. I've been to the Cabela's in Dundee MI a couple of times, and it is awesome. A mountain inside with tons of full body mounts of every conceivable game. I definitely think Cabela's has a much greater selection of archery products than BPS, catalog-wise. I have looked several times for products that simply weren't in the BPS catalog or web site, but were in Cabela's.
