get a crew cab (4 door) diesel. lot' s of room (for growing family), power to pull anything with good gas mileage, longetivity (500,000 miles ave on diesel engines). ford, chevy, dodge each has it' s merits.

Ok here goes...this only applies to gasoline powered 4x4 pickups.. If you want longetivity stay away from any GM(General Malfunction) product irregardless of what it is ...lots of marketing money and nice styling but it is a cupcake engineering wise... I have many friends that own them and continue to buy them because they must be incredibly stupid or sadists take your pick. Chrysler does not have their act together concerning gasoline engines and build quality so they are out..

My preferences are:

1> 2004 Ford F150 absolutely the best pickup out there bar none
2> Toyota Tundra
3> Nissan Full Size Pickup

I' ve owned a Chevy Avalanche for a little over a year now. Best truck I' ve owned. I absolutely love it. I owned a Tahoe before it. Gives the room of a tahoe and the versatility of a pick up.

I am glad you guys enjoy your GM products....I wonder how many trade them frequently or run them hard and put over 100,000 miles on it...I havent seen too many that make it over 100,000 without major driveline problems....

IF YOU CAN'T DODGE IT -- RAM IT

LOVE MY 1999 DODGE RAM 1500 WITH 5.9 360

HAD IT FOR ABOUT 3 MONTHS

i looked at all the ones you mentioned but i found that the dodges were a bit cheaper than the fords a little bit more truck then the yota and nissan and a whole lot cheaper then the chevy.

let me tell you - i would do it again. i wanted a chevy but they are so expensive and i got just as good a truck.

but.. it is a gas hog[8D]

i have owned them all and here it is
1. if you want a smooth quiet ride and good mileage Duramax 2500 4x4
2. Cab space the main reason buy the ford
3. Best motor buy the dodge
I own the Duramax and this is the truth about all of them
