USEFUL???? iPhone applications for hunters
#11
Well I use the WI DNR app on my phone. Gives me starting and closing times where ever I am in the state of WI and if the specie I plan to hunt is actually open in the area I am standing at that time. I find if very useful.
Works off the GPS of the phone and the WI DNR app.

Footnote - I use the net, I use the Google Map app, and a few others too. To me it is a good tool.

Antler Insanity - More or less a souped up GPS app. The group I hunt with uses cell phones primarily as part of a safe hunting practice. Primarly to check on one another and to call for help. And yep, there is an "off" button !!

I use Scoutlook for my Droid. It is pretty good for weather information and sight logs, but that's about it. We use phones for safety reasons, but that's about it. Keep it on vibrate and text messaging and it's a good tool.

Wow, your legitimately asking what Iphone applications are useful for DEER HUNTING?...Leave your phone at home. The great thing about hunting is your away from those constant annoyances that are outside of the woods. Enjoy nature, sit back relax listen to natures music and look for your dream buck. Then use your iphone to send a picture of the big buck to your buddies.
I Agree 100% with you

.... I'm sure there was a time when people talked about how much better hunting was when you didn't have battery powered flashlights to carry with you too. Yep, using oil lanterns is the only way to go.

Bad analogy. Flashlight/lantern: essential for getting in and/or out of the woods in the dark. Conversely, other than using it as a flashlight, there's not a single thing you can do on a cell phone to improve your chances of getting a deer over just going out and hunting. In fact, it may reduce your chances. It's a distraction. If you're focused and fiddling with a phone, you're not paying attention to what's happening around you. Keep it for emergencies.

If the deer happens to have a smartphone on them (more and more do) you can call them up and order delivery pizza. Order 12 extra ingredients - this always throws them off guard. Right when you get to the black olives and anchovies, zing goes your arrow! They won't even have a chance to hear your delivery address.
