I have one on it's way to me and i'm looking for tips/tricks with this blind in particular. I'm up in northern MN so i'm anticipating temps around 20 degrees, give or take another 20 for most of the rifle season. This blind was a giveaway of sorts so returning it for a double bull won't be an option
. Just looking for opinions from people who've used this particular blind before. I've never used a ground blind before but i'm going to bring my kids out (age 3 & 5) for an afternoon or two and didn't want to risk putting them up in a tree stand. I'll also be bringing my wife out whose never hunted either, with any luck i'll make 3 converts this season!

don't have any windows or doors open behind where you sit in the blind or they can see you in it.
wear dark colored cloths preferably black
I bought some heavy plastic tent stakes for mine the stakes that come with it seem to pull out easy in bad wind
some states require orange on all four sides I know Iowa does

Thanks for the tips. I'll be going out to set up our portables this weekend, so i'll probably set this up now as well. Season starts next weekend so that should be perfect. Anyone have experience using the "buddy heater" in these blinds? I know it is a pretty quiet heater but i'm wondering about the smell, will that be an issue?

so any other opinions or tips on this specific blind? I know in the description it said it had "holes" below the windows that you can stick a gun barrel out to shoot. how's that work with a scope, is the hole that big? obviously this blind hasn't come yet, so maybe i'll just have to wait and see.

I'm on my second Ameristep hub blind (because my first one blew down a hill in a storm). Do yourself a favor and buy some extra pole tips from Ameristep's website. I have broken quite a few of them while setting them up and taking them down. When one breaks, it beomes a real pain. They sell a 20 pack for $20. I emailed Ameristep about the problem and they said that they have made the new tips a little stronger. It's cheap insurance and may save a lot of frustration to have a couple of extras with you. To their credit, they returned my email promptly and sent me a pack of tips at no charge.
