Like most shotgunners I' ve gone the route from lead to steel for waterfowl, and for public lands for everything from pheasants to crows to rabbits etc.. There are plenty of other options of course, tungsten, tungsten iron, heavy shot etc.. But I have some older guns that have spent most of their time in the gun cabnet since the onset of these nontoxic loads. My recent discovery that Bismuth is gentler to older barrels has sparked my interest. But the real ? is, How does it perform on game. Need some input from practical experience. Thanks.

Bismuth does a good job. Not as good as hevi-shot or tung, but with the older guns the only other choice is reworking the choke. You' ll be pleased with the performance. At 30 yds BB size bismuth will go through a goose.
