I now have a gun rest on the front of my ATV. It is the rubbered fin type and the gun and stock stick out the side of the ATV rack a little bit. Every time I go over mud it flings on my gun. Can anybody give me advise on a gun case that will prevent this? My gun is a Weatherby Vanguard witha 2x9x50 scope. Most gun cases will not fit my scope in them without problems.

I don't know where you have your gun rest mounted, but I suspect it's on the front rack if you're getting mud on your rifle. Move it to the handlebars and you won't get any mud on your rifle. Those gun cases look fancy but one would only last about 200 yds from camp before I'd have the thing ripped off hanging on the side of a tree.

I have the finned rack on the front of my atv and have never had a problem with mud on the gun or bows . It is as far back as I can get it and is very handy to carry things like an ax or brush cutters . I originally got it to carry my bow in and not for rifles ,but it works well with both of them . I tried the Koplin case but it was always in the way for me .

I only have a problem when transporting my long gun. When I bring my short gun (brush gun) it is not a problem. The long gun sticks out from my rack about 2"-3" on each side. I do have it back towards the handle bars. I was going t move it forward.

i transport my scoped long gun on the kolpin system. keeps it from rain and other things that might scratch the gun. i have never snagged a tree or anything else with the system.i hunt a ways from our cabin . it protects the gunb during bad weather. it keeps water from entering the barrell.i have 2 sets of the systems. if you would like to purchase one let me know.

LAbushman, your post seems to indicate that your gun rest is mounted on your front rack, it needs to be mounted ON your handlebars, then your gun won't collect mud. Dep214, I am not misinformed, I know how the kolpin system mounts. The gun case may not stick out to the side of the atv, but it still does stick up and around here it will catch on something before long. The woods we hunt are unbelievably thick and we take the atv's through most of them. I've ripped two gun racks off of my atv already, that kolpin system wouldn't last for a week.

Well I have used the Koplin system for the last few years & have never had a problem with it....if your Koplin has been ripped off your ATV then buddy you have a real problem & probably shouldn't be driving where you are..<img src=icon_smile_shock.gif border=0 align=middle>...I now my system fits snug to my ATV & i've been throught some mighty thick bush with no problem....go with KOLPIN!!!!!!!!!! i hunt a area of east texas that is extremely thick. i also hunt a area of central that is thick. i have never had my kolpin snag anything. the fenders of my 4-wheeler prevent that. the fenders catch everything. the kolpin sits towards the back and is shielded. you are for sure misinformed.
