high carbon non-stainless steel
As anyone aware of a knife maker that still offers high carbon non-stainless steel as a blade option. All the "miracle" stainless steels are nice if you plan to spend a couple years on the tundra or in the rain forest but nothing, in my opinion, matches the edge-holding and ease of sharpening properties of the blades of my long-departed youth. The rusting was not big deal with a little common sense and care.

Cold Steel makes some nice knives out of a high carbon steel called "carbon V". I had one for a while they hold on to their edge for a long time. Also Marble's, I believe still makes thier knives with carbon steel blades, as well as Camillis. There are still plenty of carbon steel fans out there.

Try www.anzaknives.com. Made from files. I've got the F-4, heavy duty and a great knife. Don't look at the price on the regular web page for anza. Go to the promotional icon, for username type in anza; for password knives. Cabelas also wells a couple of models.
