That would really be a matter of personal opinion, time of the year and what kind of weather/temp you have. I would take some time to look over different ones and decide for yourself.

Default RE: best coveralls?

I will post two quick reviews. For starters I use Insulated coveralls when I hunt from ground stands or Treestands in NY, Mass or VT in November and December. Typically I use them in temps of 35F to 0F.Above 35 or if I am walking I wear wool.I don't use the hood that comes with them I use a blancava or two instead.

Cabelas Late season coveralls. Pretty warm, reasonably light weight for the warmth. The coverall surface is a treated cottony type fabric and is about a 6 of 10 for quiteness. They don't seem to get much nosier as the temp drops. They have two big fleece lined front slash pockets. Good enough Iwear light gloves and stick them in the pockets.Over Long Johns there are good to about 25F sitting on a stand for me. If I wear fleece pants and top and a down vest I can sit comfortably to 0F (thats the point I start having foot cold unless I put warmers in the boots). They are synthetically Insulated and water repellant and work on in very light rain or wet snow but I wouldn't wear then in a steady rain. Wind resistant enough for the woods. Overall I like these coveralls and would buy again.

Cablelas Insulated dry plus coveralls. These have a waterproof/breathable membrane and insulation similarin thickness to the Late Season coveralls. The surface is about as quite as the Late season coveralls but is a finely napped synthetic and doesnt get nosier as the temp drops. They have a similar temperature range but are more wind resisitant and mostly waterproof. Frankly in real cold temps I find them no better than the late season coveralls but if its raining or very windy they are the way to go. The real downside to the dryplus insulated coveralls is that they are heavy. When they get wet they are quite heavy, almost to the point of being difficult to walk in. OverallI wouldn't buy again, but might look at the MT50 insulated bibs/parka sets even though thats pretty pricey.

I have found that walking in insulated coveralls has two critical points.

1)Coveralls are hard to ventelate and get hot when walking. So its hard to have a rig that you can sit 8 hours at 10F and be comfortable then walk 2 miles and not be hot. Even all unziped dragging a deer 3/4 of a miles is a sweat fest. Bibs and a parka are better in that reguard. If the temp is about 30F wool seems to have a wider range of comfort for me.

Sizing coveralls is harder. The distance from shoulders to crotch needs to be right so the crotch of the coveralls doesn't hang down to much while walking. But it can't be tight as some extra room is needed for layering as well as giving you some room to move and bend over. The adjustability that bibs gives you is one advantage in that reguard.

It's really all about personal preferenceon this one. I mean Columbia mayfit some people better than Cabelas and Cabelas mayfit some people better than 10X, etc, etc. It pays offto shop around until you find exactly what you're looking for or what fits you the best, just remember to be patient and not buy the first thing you come across. Finding something that is good for all weather purposes is diificult but possible. I would recommend looking online at Cabelas they usually have most of the best brands on the market. If you ask me what my personal preference is, well, Ihave beenpartial to 10X for years now. I think they always make top notch gear, especially for cold wx. and everything else that comes with winter. Ithink some companies (10X included and Cabelas)have even came out with some sort of layered coverall systemwhere you can add a certain types of layers or use no layer at all. It may be a bit pricey but I'm sure you can find what you're looking for. Bottom line is find the company that fits you best and stick with them I wouldn't say there is one company that beats another, especially the big companies, thatseem to be pretty parallel to each other these days. Well sorry for the rant, just wish someone had told me all this when I first started shopping for gear. Learn from other peoples'pricey mistakes.
