Default Mega Flashligts?

Anyone ever try one of those million candlepower flashlights? The had some near the register at Lowes and I was tempted to pick one up for a friend of mine. He lives in a rural area and might have a use for it, if they work worth a darn.

I use a 1 million power on my boat. The thing can light up the world.
Really though it does a great job with lighting my way around the lakes at night while catfishing

the plug in ones work great but the battery powered ones are heavy, take a long time to charge and last only about 15 minutes. i think they make them with l.e.d. bulbs now.

We have a few for the camp/cabin, they work very well. Ours are battery operated and as mentioned they aren't for toting all day plus have limited battery life. I picked up a 12 million dual beam one this year at costco for themain purpose of skinning game after dark. This particular model has a direct DC power optionand being all our atvs have PITs works wonderful for this application. It truly turns the lights on in the middle of the black forest night. Also nice to have when you make your midnight run to the outhouse to drop supper in bear country!!!! Have also used the smaller units in the field for gutting, tracking, etc. For spot use very handy.

You guys are talking about big spotlights, no flashlights. Flashlights that you can get over the counter with 1,000.000 candlepowers do not exist.

The most powerful incandlepowers over the counter are the Ultra Stinger and the Surefire M-6, the Ultra Stinger is rated at 70.000 candlepowers, the Surefire M-6 uses the better figure of total light output, LUMENS, any serious flashlight will quote you lumens, the camdlepowers is the amount of light at the hot spot only, not the amount of light that the device puts out.

Now, a Surefire M-6 at 500 lumens is the most powerful of the flashlights (except for the MAG 951 -a modified Maglite 3 D- that will output 951 lumens, Such a light will overpower many 1,000.000 candlepowers spotlights)

I happen to have both lights, and I want to show you some beamshots.

Surefire M-6 (500 lumens)

MAG 951 (951 lumens rechargeable, FREE TO RUN)

These beamshots coming from 43 yards away, camera at 15 yards

Surefire M-6 (500 lumens $400.00 $30.00 in batteries per hour)

MAG 951 (951 lumens rechargeable flashlight $200.00)

Yes, these are the two more powerful flashlights in the world, the Surefire M-6 in used by SWAT teams in entry operation, such lights blind the oponents.
The MAG 951 is making entrance in the same field, also is used by Ranchers to shot coyotes that get too close to the hen house, I know several that have a MAG 951 mounted on a rifle by the kitchen door, such light permit making shots at 200 yards on coyotes by only one person. (no need to have a pardner with spotlight handy).

The MAG 951 been rechargeable and with a longer run time than the spotlight will be a better tool for navigating while duck hunting.

white bear, those are nice picture and all but I think the topic was on the big old lights - not "flashlights". Your post would have addressed the topic a bit better with pictures from some sort of the gazillion candlepower lights for actual comparison. But the quality of those pics is really good, must be a pretty nice camera?

For anyone intrested in the big lights I would recommend looking for ones that have smaller bulbs or LEDs in addition to the main bulb. These smaller bulbs or LEDs are for when you don't need to burn the forest down like when you're just walking orsuch. It saves alot of power for later.

Uncle Matt,
I am kicking myself for not having taken that camera today, I should have been able to please you as I saw just what you described, twice.
In Lowe's I saw this big light with 2 reflector 3 million candlepower and two LED's on the side for navigation, the price was $ 54.00 I think.

Later when I was at Target, I saw it again and the price was $40.00 I was sorely tempted, but my cart was already loaded with hundres of dollars in merchandise, well I guess is always tomorrow!!!

Can't remember the brand right now, my memory is not what it used to be.
