Remington R3 Recoil Pad
#1
Hi everyone,
I just bought a Remington 870 express combo with the riffled barrel for sabot slugs and I found out this past week-end that 12ga. slugs kick like there's no tomorow. Heck I wonder which end of the gun hurts the most...
I was looking in their catalog and they've got this recoil pad for sale, the "R3". It's supposed to be the best thing since sliced bread... so they say...
Does anyone own a remington with that particular recoil pad on? feel an different?
Thx for the help everyone

R3 is made by SVL - SIMS. I haven't seen the price of the R3 but would hazard a guess the SIMS pads will be cheaper. They also make a slip on version of this pad, if of interest.
I think they work pretty well and IMO don't change anything in the feel department.

As stated they are manufactured by SIMS. I installed one on my Step-Dad's 7MM Remington mag that had the standared Ruger 77 pad. The new pad made a world of difference. I am going to install one as soon as it arrives on my Rem. 870 Super Mag.

I put a Sims recoil pad on my .50 cal. TC Omega and it really cut down on the recoil. I bought the R-3 pad for my 11-87 to reduce the recoil when I shoot sabots. I just bought the rifled barrel and haven't had a chance to try it yet.

I used to get punished patterning my turkey gun with 3" magnum loads. Put a Simms R3 on, and its painless! Awesome product. Put one on and you wont be sorry. I got mine on Ebay for 20 sumthin dollars.

SVL recoil pads are the only way to go. I bought a .300 Win. Mag It was devastating to sight in, I purchased the SVL recoil pad and could shoot all day. They sell a slip on and a custom fit. I use the slip on so I can utilize it on my wife's 12g for her turkey hunting.
