I rec'd 2 lab pups for christmas this year from my wife. 2 females 1 yellow and 1 chocalate. About 2 week agos we noticed the yellow labs eyes did not look normal, her eyes were bugging out of her head, we knew this was not normal so she went to the vet the next day. Upon the vets examination she has something that a dog rarely has...tetnus. Of his 30 years of practice he has only seen 2 dogs with this diagnosis. He stated they do not even have a vacine for dogs. We were floored! he gave her a 50% chance of survival. She had no cuts or scratches on her body. The vet stated dogs can get it from digging in the dirt around the yard WHAT? Well he put her on 2 antibiotics and phenabarbital to keep her calm. She is now secluded in a dark quiet room for the next 4 weeks. After her first week she improved, her eyes began to look normal again. She acts like a normal puppy but she can go down hill anytime. Hope she makes it.
