when i shot him he hell in the mud and got covered in it so that probly covered some of the smell because i didn't notice anything. but it had some smell. and i've only ate a small steak so far so i dont know about that ha.

Not a nasty dead smell but a muskie smell like a wet rutting deer?The meat from mine was good,real dark and rich flavor...not something I would suggest eating alot of at one sitting,or more sitting was in near future!
I could only eat a 1/4 as much of it at a meal as I could the axis or fallow but still great table fare!Congrats on your sika,maybe someday I will get a chance at a buck!
