I have a question about your sika.I have only took one and it was a doe a few years back so thatmaybe part of my answere! Did your have a smell? Not a nasty dead smell but a muskie smell like a wet rutting deer?The meat from mine was good,real dark and rich flavor...not something I would suggest eating alot of at one sitting,or more sitting was in near future!
I could only eat a 1/4 as much of it at a meal as I could the axis or fallow but still great table fare!Congrats on your sika,maybe someday I will get a chance at a buck!
Wild sika like we have in MD live in the swamps, and have more of an elk taste than deer. Very dark meat. During rut in Oct. they stink to high heavens. Like a moose, they urinate in a wollow and roll around in it.
