I am just back from my hunt at Muddy Marsh Outfitters on the eastern shore of Maryland for Sika Deer. I was blessed to take a button buck on Tuesday evening in the marsh. This is a really cool hunt and the outfitter, TJ, and the guide, Joe, are real fun to be around. I took my deer at 18 yards in a gusting wind and rain. These little deer are very vocal and a blast to hunt. I would recommend this hunt to anyone. Affordable and fun! My deer was a 2 year old and about 40lbs, which is about average for these Sika deer. What a trophy.

Congrats here too...way to go. That kind of weather makes for a tough shot on a little target..kudos friend.
I have a little Sika story of my own. Many years ago my brother and I were spotlighting (legal in PA) and nearing a preserve. When we lit this one field there were two little Sika's standing just off the road. My brother said "what the hell are they?" and only recognizing them from reading Bowhunter magazine I immediately said they were Sika deer. We swung into the preserve's house and knocked and said they had two deer out of the pen so they asked us to tag along and help traqulize them. We went with and they shot the two and I was able to pick one up and carry it back to the trucks to return them home. It was fun but also sad in a way. I didn't get to shoot the tranq gun but I was glad to be part of the whole thing.
Again, Congratultions, they are a facinating little animal and I hope to hunt one for real myself.
