ButCANNED hunting is not part of our tradition. If it gets out to the main stream public that some little kid shot a pig in a 160 acre pen, that will only give hunters a bad name to the general public. Which leads advocates to protest and more gun control laws. CANNED HUNTERS ARE A PLAGUE TO THIS TRADITION AND THEY NEED TO REALIZE THAT. People who shoot game in a pen are not hunters in anyway. They are just target shooters. All these guys go and shoot 200" deer and put them on the wall and act like they are some great hunter and it makes me sick. Whats so funny is that most of these guys are the ones who get joked on for shooting 6 points back at home. I dont get it.

they have a total of 2500 acres, NONE OF WHICH IS HIGH FENCED!
Buying a penned hog for waaay too much money and having your "can't hit a bull in the ass with a base fiddle" son totally ass up the pen cull slaughter of it is nothing to get on TV or the internet and brag about.

Your opinion.... It is still legal, and as such we need to support it. If we allow the antis to have high fence hunts, then where do they stop??
They have already gotten the Cal mnt lion hunts, now they are having problems.... they are going after dog hunts now... and archery...
We need to provide a line, and I say the line starts here.
Have you ever done a high fence hunt?? It aint as easy as you think... course, if you are as big a hunter as you claim, then drop down to utilizing only trad gear...
elitisism is what is going to kill our tradition.

Just ran across this story again on MetaFilter and went to the website again. Lots and lots of e-mails added to the page. The pig may or may not be that big- but the story is huge and the controversy even bigger. Doesn't seem like this leads to anything but bad publicity for hunting. (Opposition to hunting, weapon choice, canned hunts, et al.).
Kinda wish now I had never even seen it- no matter how impressive the beast is. (And he is impressive, no matter his real size and weight.)

Hell i hope they get their way on this one. Free range will never be banned and guns will be before bows if anything because of crime. You must be a Can hunter.

Look at Ontario's black bear... Look at California's mountain lion...
Its people like you, who are more allied to the PETA jerks then you want to admit.
FYI - I hunt almost 1200 acres of FL ranch land, and have access tothat much in North FL (trad bow only), plus am a member of a GA hunting lease... aint no high fence in any of those.
But I do participate in an annual hog hunt in Tenn within a compound.... its whole lot harder then you think, and a whole lotta fun.
