Burris Full Field II?
#1
Any experiences or thoughts on this scope? I took a look at one today and it was nice. The owner of the shop who is a optic freak & competition shooter said it is a great scope.(all he uses now)
Some details
I remember)
1-piece tube
Multi coated on all lens
Lifetime No Fault Warranty (transferable)
Adjustable Reticle relief
Supposely in that 95% trans. range
Well he said it is basically the same in his opinion as the Varix III. I also looked at the Signature Burris as well, which was in my opinion the same for clarity, but had the A/O and was long and a bit heavy. The Fullfield II was as light as the loopy.
Any thoughts?

Skeeter...I used to own a Model 70 post 64 WInlite 300 win mag that was accurized by a Gunsmith. The gun was a consistent under 1" gun with a Leupold 2.5x8x36 scope but I wanted that on another lightweight rifle I had so I took it off the 70 and bought a Fullfield II 3x9x40(gloss). I mounted it on the gun with Leupold dual dovetail mounts. It still shot great for about 200 rounds and all of a sudden I'm getting soccer ball groups out of a gun with historically a troublefree history. Checked the Gun out ..nothing out of place or loose and sent it to Burris ..1 1/2 months later I get it back and on the letter an explanation of what they did to service it...and that the scope had been water tested. The scope felt really heavy so as I was gazing thru the ocular lense there was a bubble moving around..hah the scope was full of water...Called Burris and they said to send it back immediately...got it back 3 weeks later...There is a cover over some screws they have that if you view thru the ocular lense you will see(screwheads) if this is not in place. This time Burris recalled the scope via UPS and had it fixed promptly in 2 weeks(high priority) and sent it back. I now have the scope mounted on a remington 700 bdl ss in 06 and it is working fine. This is the 2nd burris I have had to send back to put back together the other was a 2.5x10x44 signature also mounted on another 300 win mag i owned and that started shooting loose. The other 3x9 Signature mounted on a BAR 30-06 has given no problems whatsoever.

So your saying, their service department is a little off the ball when it comes to the "Forever Warranty" they claim. I know every manufacturer has problems, I know of loopies, nikons, simmons, tasco, Bushnell and zeiss scopes from hunting cirlces that had to go back for one reason or another. However I don't want to buy a lemon. The shop owner I referenced, said he has little trouble with burris, but I know he doesn't sell as many as Bushnell either. It seems you must like their offerings, since you do have a number of them...I do appreciate your candidness with the troubles.
I was looking at a Loopy, I own one now, but he said go Burris. I do trust his opinion and know that if I do buy it and hate it I will have no troubles taking it back. The deal was great and it just got me thinking. I have an elite 4200 and it has been good. But this burris is a better scope supposedly and with the deal it is less. I have never been affraid to try something new or different. Some of my buddies said, Bushnell I would never and after looking through mine they have bought bushnell. Was thinking this maybe true with Burris.
Any more opinions?

Skeeter...no their service department is not on the ball and yes they will cover the problem but it took some time in my case to do so. I think it is an organization thing with them not much of an organization but they offer decent engineering on their products...Leupold no matter what turns it around in 2 weeks less if you send it to them overnite. Now If they(burris) came out with an offering that was tempting I would probably still try it out.
