I'd start w/ the 7mm rem mag, the 30-06, and the 300win mag. the 7mm and 06 are about a toss up, both great rounds, the 300win mag is a step up on power and recoil, but if you can live with the recoil(I dont think its to severe by the way, but opinions vary) its more gun and will serve you better.

Remington 710 in 30'-06 is all anyone needs.

For what you would pay for a 710 there are many better choices quality wise. Savage, Howa, Charles Daly the ADL's which are still on shelves. Stay as far away from a 710 as you can, if you want more details and opinions just do a search for Remington 710, and come to your own conclusion.

thndrchicken - I've never owned a 710, but I've heard enough to come to the same conclusion as you. Just say no to the 710.
