If you find one in the gauge you like, buy it. The 390 is discontinued and the only difference between that and the 391 is the mag cut-off button. I've been looking for one in 20ga since christmas. Our local Walmart had them on clearance for $350 and I missed it. [:@]

It pretty much the same as the old 390's with a few differences. It has the automatic magazine cutoff but does not have the bolt lock lever on the left side of the receiver. They only come in B/S with a 28" barrel in the 12 gauge and 26" in 20 gauge.
The AL 391 is a whole different gun. It has a totaly different gas system and a super slim forearm. All most all of the 390's have an angled receiver where the AL 391's only have the rounded receiver.
The Wal Mart 390 is a good value even at the $529.00 price at my local stores.

Well first it's the same Beretta 390 that was sold anywhere so the question could be shortened to to "What do you think of the Beretta 390?" That said I own one and it has served me well for about 3 years now. Mine handles both 2 3/4 and 3 inch shells. I have never had any feed problems or jams using light 2 3/4 inch field loads or heavy 3 inch magnum turkey loads. It should come with 3 different screw in chokes and a choke tube wrench to change them out.
