I bought this gun 15 years or so ago, ordered it new from Ameircan Historical Foundation. They took 50 Smith's model 629 in .44 mag and engraved them front to back - absolutely gorgeous guns. This one is #25 of 50 made. Its new, mint, never fired, still has the ty-rap in the trigger gaurd. I was never a collector, don't know what possessed me to buy the thing but I'm moving into a new house soon and thought I'd throw it out and around for sale. I paid $3850 for it, 15 years ago and I'm sure its not but a couple of the 50 made thats still in mint shape.
PM me or post back here if you're interested. I'd also be up to trading it for ??????? I dunno, something and cash, something, a hunt maybe or ?????

Max, that is THE best looking 629's I've EVER seen, but no way I could ever afford it. Just wanted to congrat you on owning it. Why would you want to sell such fine piece? Just imagine what it'll be worth twenty yrs from now! Even though you're moving to a new house, there's got to be a good hiding spot for such a collector like that one. Its obviously very rare, so keep it and show it off every chance you get to your "new" neighbors.lol

I don't know who did the engraving ......... I got the Nikon Scope, still new in box, never mounted, the S&W case, I think I even have the glasses that came with it.
Maybe one of only 10 or less that was never fired when they got to their owners. This is one rare gun.
Why sell ? Practicality. I'm not a gun collector, I am a bowhunter. I'd LOVE to trade this gun in on a biggame hunt, like for sheep or a combo moose/bear hunt or something like that. Give me the $3850 credit towards the hunt and I'll pay the difference and we both get something out of it !
