RE: loctite or somesuch for mounting scope?
So I went with the nail polish, got the rings mounted on the Mossberg 695, and then realized that one of the rings was never drilled to recieve the screws to hold the scope in place. Aaaaaaargh. So then I decided to mount another scope on my Savage 99. Got the rings in place and then realized the scope (a World Class Compact) is too short for the rings. Double Aaaaaaargh. Curse that Murphy guy.

Red Loctite (272) is used for bearing and stud mounting, Extreemly strong stuff. Blue Loctite (242) is for service removable with standard size screws 1/4-20 and above. There is a Purple loctite that is made for small screws, but the nunber escapes me. If you get a good grip with the blue you might strip the heads out on smaller screws. When using the red, touch the screw head with a pencil type soldering iron for a few minutes. Heat will cause the loctite to disintergrate, allowing you to remove the screws
