Default Need some help with finding a case

I bought my first shot gun a Remingon 870 Super Mag combo a few months ago and I have had some pracitic with it but it is driving me nuts that I still have it in the box to store it. What I would like to get is a case that will hold 2-3 shot guns and a few extra barrels. I would also like to be able to store my cleaning suplies and chokes with ease. It is just most cases I see are over kill. At least that is what they have on display.

I have a Dick sportgoods now, Bass Pro Shop, and Gander Mountin all with-in about 45min of me. I am just wondering does anyone know of a good case that will fit my needs.

I also need a good carrying case so I do not srap up my gun getting back there. What size case should I go with in length. I know I have to get a taller one I can can leave the scope on it.

Thanks for any help or ideas

I use hard cases almost exclusively, with the exception of my T/C White Mountain Carbine that I have a very handly short soft-case for. I generally use the less expensive plastic single gun hard cases, but I do have one very nice aluminum double-rifle case that use regularly that will hold two scoped rifles, two Harris bipods, a one piece cleaning rod, patches and a bottle of CLP and a bottle of bore cleaner. It's very handy when my wife and I both go to the range together, as we can put both our rifles for the day in the one case and go. It's also very sturdy. I believe that it is a Gander Mountain label case. It was a bit spendy, as I think I got it on sale for $75. But it's been worth it as it keeps the guns inside very secure.

It would easily hold two and should hold three pump or semi-auto shotguns provided you take the barrels off. It is not long enough to hold a Browning BPS with a 28" barrel while assembled. As for "a few extra barrels" at the same time as three shotguns, I can't say for sure if it'd fit or not. That's a lot of stuff for a double case. If you want to tote that much stuff you might have to look into the really big airline approved aluminum safari cases, but those are VERY spendy from the ones I've seen.

I am looking for one case for my house and one for the feild.

I would like to have a nice safe case around the house so just incase for some reason when my family is over with their kids and they get into my room I do not have to worrie as much. Also for incase someone does brake into our house I do not have to worry about them getting a hold of my gun.

For the feild I am not sure if I hard case or soft was better. I just want to carry one case and a barrel to the feild. It would be nice if it had a place for the chokes, but as long as I can mount and keep the scope on it I will be happy.

For home I'd recommend you look into buying yourself a gun safe. For your requirements for a field case, just about any case would do, but I still prefer at least a hard plastic case. It'll prevent damage except in the most extreme circumstances. I've seen wooden stocks dinged through a soft case from bouncing around in a truck bed.

Good luck.

if your looking for tough gun case that will last your lifetime look into pelican cases. i bought there model 1750 gun case for around 173 dollars shipped! they are air tight water tight and made of thick flexable plastic. they come on 3 different sizes. short, medium, and long. they come with a 3pc. foam in them and you cut the middle layer out to the shape of your firearm. they are lockable too.

I agree with handloader. SKB is the way to go. The only complaint is that they're really heavy, but very good.

Thanks,

I kind of like this one,

2SKB-3613 Custom Shotgun Case
unit price: $170.99 ea.
product code#: 2SKB-3613
Custom Shotgun 1 Receiver, 2 Barrel
Interior Dimensions: 36" x 13" x 5"

For right now that is perfect for me in size and everything. Looks if I can find a nice small case for my cokes I can fit that in there also.
