Heres how to get a good first gun cheap...

#1: Read this

#2: Get in your car and go to Wal-Mart

#3: Go to the gun section

#4: Buy a rossi singleshot firearm.

There you go.

All rossi firearms are under 200 dollars at wal-mart

You can get a matched pair.....a shotgun and rifle combo for 184.13 thats the most expensive.
They come in sizes from a .22 to a .308. They are easy to use! And are great guns.

It will be simple to use, and u can always rely on it. It will always fire when you pull the trigger. Hammer guns are good for beginners for safety purposes. You know when they are engaged. Go with a 30-06, and you won't regret it.

Now, All you fellow hunters out there can laugh at me because i put trust in a Rossi/Braztech. Well listen up....One shot one kill. Im still a young hunter, but my rossi 12 gauge can hit 95 out of 100 skeet bird you through to me....My second time shooting em!

Heard that the rimless cartridges get hung up sometimes & won't eject on some of the cheaper single shots. Have to use a cleaning rod to tap the brass out. NEF is one of them.

I think the rossi is probably your best option. From you profile I'm guessing you're only around 12 years old so you would want to stay away from the larger calibers such as .300 and 7mm until you are used to shooting. As far as only spending 150 bucks this pretty much cuts out just about every rifle made unless you find a great deal or a pretty old rifle. This is why the rossi would be a good option. they come in good deer calibers and you can get them brand new for cheap.

If you can find a 7mm for $150 e mail me because i will buy 3 at that price..

walmart has some nice 270 cal. & 7mm cal. remingtons with a 3x9 scope for under $350.00

if you want to take down elk, deer etc a nice savage 270 cal. will do the trick for a decent price..

I personally think that a 7mm or a 300 ultra mag is a definate overkill for for whitetail deer, unless you're shooting long distance. So I am looking for a new rifle and I won't go any more powerful than a 30-06. Good placement with a 30-06 can take down just about any game, so I've been told.

the 300 rum is way to much gun for any deer seeing that more deer have been taken with a 30-30 than any other cal. over the past 100 yrs. shooting deer with the 300 rum is going to waste alot of meat if you hit it wrong. My thought is a 25-06 ,270 or 270 wsm,280 rem,or a 7 mag at the most if you really want a 300 mag I would get a 300 win mag it has alot less recoil then a 300 rum or 300 weatherby.Your bullet choice has just as much to do with a quick kill as the rifle size maybe even more.I found the barnes triple shock X bullet to be fantastic one most med. to med. large game, other good choices to look at are the swift line the trophy bonded bear claw, nosler accubond and partion, seirra gamekings and the hornady interbonds, try to stay away from the ballistic tips that are not bonded they sometimes break up to easy and don't pass through a you'll have little blood to follow.

I have hunted rifles for 50 years. I sugget you pick up an 'old' 270 or 30-06 at a gun show or shop. Shoot it a while. Both are very capable for deer class animals. After you get used to shooting a deer rifle you can then move up to whatever fancy gun you desire. You can always sell a 30-06 or 270 awith relative ease, with a reasonable loss for its use.
I would rather have either than 7mm. 7mm mag is a different story, but you don't need it for deer.
30-06 has a wide range of capability. I have used 110gr and 125gr for varmints, and 180 for elk. Read where someone (writer for some magazine) took an African lion with his 30-06.
I prefer 338WinMag for everything, but you ain't ready for that.
