Berettas are prettier, are made of metal, are just as reliable as Glocks, and they don't have the tendancy to blow apart when least expected like glocks
As far as the Glock vs 1911 arguement, I have both, shoot both, and find both to be very accurate and reliable. Which one do I carry on a day to day basis? A Glock 26 and a Kel Tec P3AT.
Being raised up on the 1911, I used to hate Glocks....that is until I shot one. I hated the Beretta 92 as well, then I shot one and hated it even more.

I've got a Government Model .380 Colt that ain't worth much, it don't like to feed. I have a 9mm Kel-Tec with a trigger that belongs on a last ditch Japanese Arisaka. I also have a Charter Arms .44 Special Bulldog that works every time, and if fed 180 grain bullets will actually remain in your hand. [8D] If I ever find one that works out of the box, I'll get along with it just fine.

[quoteHmm, maybe you need to talk to the guys over at the armory. I know the Berettas we have tend to be prone to frames cracking and jamming. I have had one stovepipe on me several times during qualifications. I have never seen a Glock jam to this day.

Happens with anything that is collectively owned, ridden hard, and put away wet. If Glocks had been the sidearm chosen by the military, you would be hearing countless rumors of them failing and breaking too.

NewGuy,
I have a Browning HP 9mm that I bought in 1968 and a Beretta 9mm in 1985.
Also have Ruger GP101...6" FS... .357. and Rep. 1858 REM SS..44 BP.
IMHO,I think Glocks are a Law Inforcement weapon.
For comp. shooting is the 1911.
Home and personal use is Ruger or anything you like.

I don't recall frames cracking on the 1911s we used before the M9 came along.
I don't understand how a beretta frame could break, any abuse that could break a Beretta frame will most certainly ruin a1911 frame as well. The only major part that frequently fails on a beretta is the locking block- they are suppposed to be good for about 10,000 rounds. When they do break, a new locking block only costs about $20 and takes 5 minutes to install. Contrast that to a 1911 where everything needs to be handfitted in order to work properly, or a plastic glock that cannot be repaired.

The thing is, I don't give a rat's behind how it looks. I don't pick the prettiest hammer in the toolbox when I need to drive a nail. I pick the one that works. I have first hand experience with a Beretta failing. I have sent more rounds downrange with a Glock than I can count and no failures. Ugly or not I chose a Glock over a Beretta any day of the week.
