Question about a savage 250
I could have a chance at getting a savage 90 (?) cheep in 250 savage. I was told the gun is in perfect shape, the only problem is, the rifleing was messed up while being transported in a truck. A tool made its way into the muzzle messing up the rifling to about 2 cm. My question, if I buy this gun, can I have 2 cm of the muzzle cut off with out effecting the gun?

RE: Question about a savage 250
If you can cut it off square, good enough, if not, a machine shop should do it at a reasonable price.
After cutting, it needs to be recrowned, that is , smooth bevel or chamfer at the mouth.
Easiest way is to use a brass round head bolt in a drill motor with clover medium and fine valve lapping compound to smooth out and round off the sharp edge at the muzzle, a 1/4" bolt will do a .25 cal. easily.
