RE: what .22LR Ammo?
CCI does still make the Blazer ammo in .22 LR. The .22 LR Blazer line existed long before the new "cheap" centerfire line.
CCI Blazer .22 LR is very inexpensive, about 87 cents per 50 in case lots.
Why do I know this? We use it as cheap practice ammo for our youth firearms classes.

That being said, I like Winchester Dynapoints (the .22 LR version)

RE: what .22LR Ammo?
Miller John, Welcome to the forum! In my experience, Big 5 is usually not the price leader on ammunition, although I do give them credit for usually having a box or two of 6.5x55 and 8x57 ammo on hand. Turner's is ok, but for ordinary .22 ammo don't be shy about trying your local Walmart if price is a major consideration. Just keep in mind that if you have a decent gun store nearby it's not a bad idea to throw some business their way so that you have a continued source of guns, ammo and other related stuff. Turner's is not my favorite place by any means but they are worlds ahead of WallyWorld in terms of service and selection. Turner's also tends to carry a variety of .22 ammunition including some of the more expensive target stuff if you really want to se what you can do.
As far as brands go you need to see which ones work best in your individual firearm. I've had great luck with CCI Mini Mags in my semi auto firearms but not necessarily the best accuracy. Experiment with different brands, it's cheap and it's fun.

RE: what .22LR Ammo?
Do they just make the blazer line for specific companies or something or do these companies that do have just have a bunch remaining in stock?
In all the gun shops I have ever been into I have never seen blazer 22lr. CCI doesn't even list it on their web site. Where are the blazer bullets coming from? I'm lost.[8D]

RE: what .22LR Ammo?
I recently bought a box at the local Canadian Tire store. It is a basic round nose lead bullet but I get very good accuracy with them.Believe it or not, one of the best performers in my rifle is the 550 round bulk pack from Federal.Without getting into a debate regarding personal defense and the .22 rimfire( it was mentioned in an earlier post ),I keep a mag. loaded with Stingers for my wife's rifle,it's something she's comfortable shooting and can shoot well.I believe it was Elmer Keith who said he would rather stand before a nimrod with a .44 mag. than an expert with a .22 ..........
