RE: Scope Comparison
My only problem with Zeiss is they are a bit larger then a comparable Leupold . I have used Leupolds my whole life and i never screwed around with anything less then their top of the line unless I inherited a VX-II or Compact scope in a trade. I also dabbled in expensive 30mm German/Austrian scopes. I have generally been more pleased with the other brands then leupold. I also believe there are better buys out there then Leupold that cost much less and that would be the Nikon Monarch line.

RE: Scope Comparison
Oldelkhunter, it seems you have hands on experience with a number of better scopes. If buying a new one, which would you go for (money is not necessarily a problem). Clarity and low light situations are the desired traits I am looking for. I'm also looking at a Schmitt & Bender(sp?). Others, with hands on experience suggestions, would be appreciated.

Timbercruiser for a stand type gun that your not going to carry around all the time .. I would go with Zeiss 3.5-10x44 Zeiss 3.5-10x50 or a Zeiss 3-12x56 for really lowlight performance comparable with their 1400 dollar VM series. the 56mm has a 30mm tube.
Swarovski AV in 42mm and 50 mm are also great scopes but a little more pricey then the Zeiss. Nikon and Bushnell also have some outstanding low light scopes.
