I'm thinking of putting a scope on my S&W 629 44 mag for our late season doe only season. I do not have a clue what I should get? Budget around $200.00 Not sure if that will get me a good one ? Please advise Thanks

I have a Super Redhawk that came with a 2X Simmons on it. The Simmons has held up well, but I am going to switch to a 4X scope. Many people told me that the 2X was more than enough for a revolver, but to my old eyes, 2X just is not enough!
I have not decided whether to stay with the Simmons line, or to up-grade to a Loupy or Burris. As for me, I will not go to a variable scope though, to me the revolvers limited range does not justify the expense of a variable.

I just put a 2X leupold on my SBH hunter. Got it on ebay used for less than $150 shipped and am real happy with it so far...

i've got a fixed 4X leupold on my encore (7mm-08 w/15") that i have killed a few deer with, i was advised to go with a 2X but decided i knew more than the people advising me, it's not that i don't like the 4X, but target aquisition is a little funny, takes some getting used to, mine is mainly fired from a rest which helps a whole bunch, i'd try to find someone with both power scopes and see which you prefer.

I'd have to agree with mt, a 4X pistol scope is pretty tough to hold steady off-handed. I'd suggest a Burris, Leupold or Nikon in 2X. I've also heard that the Bushnell Elite pistol scope is also a good one, but I don't have any experience with that one.

Would these hold up on a 454casul. I'm told it is a 200 yard gun in the right hands. "Not mine" Maybe with a scope, I will be close.

boy i don't have any idea if it would hold up to your 454. but the question was for a 44 mag and they work very well for those. why would anyone want to buy a 454.
