Believe me Joe, been there. 10 years ago, I loved my 7400. And have litterly been in fights when people dogged it. I was poor as dirt and kept getting laid off in the coal mines and this was all I had. All it got me was lost friends. Looking back, thats insane. But I don't reconize that guy anymore who used to throw down for anything. I still got my 7400, it killed a deer this year. I hadn't shot it in like 5. But saw it one morning before going out, and figured what the hey.

JOE-BEEF,

Send me a private message and I'll give you the name of somebody to talk to at Remington. I too had problems with my 710 and Remington took care of the problem, plus they paid for ALL shipping costs. I could not have asked for more and their customer service was top-notch in my opinion. The fact that they haven't replied to your email is not a good thing, but I guarantee if you call their customer service center and talk with the lady who helped me, they'll treat you right. Don't give up on their customer service until you've talked to somebody.

I'll await your PM.

Jim

Plastic parts in Glock handgun=good
Plastic parts in Remington rifle=bad

The 710 isn't pretty. It isn't the smoothest rifle in the world. I saw 5 of them this last fall on my sight in bench- every one of them was a good accurate shooter.

I bought a Remington 710 .30-06 this year and think it's a great rifle for the money. Looked at the Savage package gun, but favored the stock on the 710 over the Savage. The Remington stock was smooth and rounded versus a more squared shape on the Savage. One of those "fit" issues you always read about.

I've put about 100 rounds throught it testing various ammo. No problems whatsoever. The bolt isn't the smoothest in the world, but I guess that is to be expected for an inexpensive rifle. I found accuracy to be less than 2" at 100 yards using the ammo it likes best....150gr Federal Sierras.

Got 2 deer with it this year, which is about 2 more than some posts indicate you would ever be able to get with this rifle. I have not, however, been able to determine if using an "ugly" gun adversely affected my hunting experience. On the other hand, I am quite sure that the marketing boys love to hear how the "POS" guns just aren't worth it. That's how you end up selling Hummers to Arnold wanna-bees so they can drive to the market to pick up a gallon of milk.

Had a friend buy one. It shot ok, was ugly. He traded it in a few years after buying it. He didnt care for it. It worked fine, held ok groups (wouldnt say good groups with hand loads, but ok). That is the only person I have ever know that had a 710.
