Yep, I have my Ruger at 3-1/2 and I don't flinch or anything, very smooth.

I had a gunsmith put mine and my sons' at 2.5 lbs, down from out-of-box weights of 6.5 to 7 lb. Instant 100% improvement on groups (half the size). These other post-ers are right, though; we could probably go 3 to 3.5 lbs and be as accurate with a bit more safety.

I just took my new Ruger in to have a Timney trigger put in it. The Smith pulled the trigger a couple times then put it on the scale. The pull was six lbs. He said this is a good trigger and he thinks he can get it down to three so I left it there to just rework the factory trigger. I like 3lbs because its cold when and where I hunt and I always have cloves on. This last time out a few weeks ago it was 15 below zero while we were hunting.

I set mine all my triggers at around three lbs . A friend of mine bought a new remington with a 9 LB trigger when we tried it . I've heard of lawyer triggers but that was just poor quality control in my opinion .

Just got my 7mm mag. back from the smith. The factory set was over 7 1/2 lbs. He re-worked the factory trigger to 2.5 lbs. Man is it "sweet". Can't wait to get out to shoot it!

You will love 2.5 lbs, because you know when it's going to go off. For this reason, I maintain it's just as safe, kinda like a sharp knife is safer than a dull one.

At 7 lbs, I start pressure, pressure, when's it going to go off?, pull, pull, crack! If I have buck fever, it's pressure, pressure, jerk, crack!, scare buck away.

At 2.5 lbs, pressure, crack! It has only been one season of sighting, practicing, and hunting (five boxes, four one-shot kills this season), but I have yet to shoot too early, which is what I was afraid might happen.

My sixteen year old had lost all his confidence on several misses last year with his 7 lb pull, but this year he also made four one-shot kills with the new 2.5 lb trigger. Confidence re-gained.

I am teaching him to push on the back of the trigger guard with the back of his trigger finger at all times until time to shoot. He should feel uncomfortable holding the gun if his finger isn't pushing on the back of the guard.
