Anything that would increase the variety and availability of 8mm bullets would tickle me no end. I just got a Remington 700 Classic in 8x57 Mauser, and a few more bullets to choose from would be most welcome.

There is always hope that a new cart will be the next best thing to sliced bread. I bet that, if the .325 wsm is popular there will be more bullets made in the 8mm that will be adaptable to other 8mm loads. That would be a good thing. So it could be a win/win situation.

Even though I don't really have a need for one I'm thinking about buying one when they release them. I was considering the .300 WSM, but this new one sounds interesting. If they come out w/ more bullets for it you could reload it for a variety of uses, and the advantage over the .300 WSM would be the heavier bullets.

I too am waiting for one of these rifles. I just got off the phone with Browning. The A-bolt hunter, left hand that I want to get won't be on the shelves until June. By that time there should be some brass available for reloading.
It look like I may start with the 200 gr 8 mm bullets.
I imagine that this 6 lb, 9 oz rifle will pack a punch at both ends but should be nice to carry on my future elk hunts.
Heck, I may even retire (or sell) my Ruger 77 - 300 Win mag.

I think the jury will be out for a long time on the .325 WSM. I, for one, would probably choose a .338 Win Mag over the .325 WSM if given the choice. They both are ballistcally similar, but the .338 handles even heavier bullets and makes a bigger hole.
I am a bit baffled myself. The 338 win mag is pretty well established yet it won't tear your shoulder off, either. With all these new introductions, I can't help but wonder how many will be orphans soon......
in this short mag. phenom., but then I'd be happy if all we had were the 30-30, 45-70,
270Win., 7x57, 30-06, 308Win., 358Win., 35Whelen, and the 375H&H. Oh yeah, and the 22LR, and 22WMR. Also, the 243Win. for varmints
All this stuff reminds me of something Jack O'Conner once wrote: " Nine-day wonders in the way of cartridges come and go. One year rifle nuts are in a lather about one caliber;
the next year they are swooning about something else. ...... The peasants may be conned by every pitchman that introduces a new super magnum, but the members of the
congnoscenti stick with the classic calibers."
From "The Hunting Rifle" (pg.66)
What's this "8mm" going to do that you can't do with a 30-06 loaded with 200gr. bullets, or even a 338Win.Mag.? Ok, shorter action? - whoopie! Makes no sense to me.
Maybe I'm just too old fashioned - or just too old

I have been accused of being a stick in the mud more than once. I will say though when it comes to guns..the more calibers the merrier. Choice is a good thing and the market shall decide what stays and what goes. Look at the 7mm and 300 SAUM's they didnt take off and are pretty much gone already. If something doesnt look promising it wont be here long. I also think the WSM's will be with us for a LONG time to come. Its a good concept...the classics will always be here though.
