Default Went to the Range.

I took the new 25-06 Ruger to the range before my hunt next week. I had loaded some 115 grain Ballistic tips and had to try them out. I loaded 48.5 grains od IMR 4350 with a Standard CCI LG Rifle primer. The chronographed 2916 fps. According to the Nosler manual they should have run about 3000 fps. I quess thats pretty close. They grouped .70 inches for three shots. Pretty good the way I was shivering. It was only about 10 gegrees but the wind was calm. My 100 Grain Ballistic tips chronographed at 3064. They grouped about the same. I also chronographed the Winchester 115 ballistic silvertip factory load. It checked out at 2949 fps. The Ruger has a 24 inch barrel.

Sounds like another good, accurate Ruger! What ya' gonna' be hunting?
BTW, I'd bet those velocities will go up by 50fps or so in the warmer weather - in the summer.

We have a late mule deer season starting the 1st of Jan. Its a season to take some more does out of the herd. Several mild winters and plenty of good farm land hes the population up pretty high. They are really big this year as well. These cases showed no sign of flar primers or anything. It is however only one half grain under max. I have two doe tage for rifle and two for muzzle loader.

Oh, darn . Makes me wish I was still living out west (formerly Lander, WY., and
Minot, ND). But, sure don't miss that 10deg. weather, or the -30, -40 stuff either.
Have fun.

Not an easy country to live in. Not just the cold but we get the heat as well. Having been all over the world I quess this part of the country serves me well. Good hunting to you.
