RE: Simmons Pro Hunter
A Buddy of mine has the same one only in silver finnish without the AO lense on top of his ruger M77 in 7mm rem mag, he seems to love it. its been on his rifle for 3 years now and has never had any trouble with it. that scope should be great and last you a lifetime on your marlin rimfire rifle. good luck

RE: Simmons Pro Hunter
That's what my buddy put on his Marlin 30AS 30-30 (before he sold it to me!). The scope is huge and a bit of overkill for a lever action 30-30, but it works great. It has the raised up scope rings, so I can still use the plain iron sights if I want to.
I have the Simmons Pro Hunter zeroed in perfectly at 50 yards, and if I dial in the AO to 100 yards, I'll still be dead on the money. The scope can dial all the way out to 300 yards of AO, but I don't even think of trying anything that far out with a 30-30!
I like the scope and have no problems with it at all. I keep it zoomed at either "4" or "6" at 50 yards and it is very clear and accurate. Zooming it out to "12" is like, "Day-ummmm.... I can see a fox blink it's eyes at 100 yards!"
If, someday, I get a 7mm-08 or 300mag or some other powerful rifle, I'll pull the scope off the 30-30 and use it on the bigger rifle.
It's a great scope for the money, and from what the guys at the gun shop told me (when I got bought my buddy's 30-30), with the Simmons Pro Hunter 4-12x40 mounted on an old 30-30? I got more scope than gun! [8D]

The Adjustbale Objective doesn't do anything for the point of impact, The adjustable objective is another way of saying cheapy parallax adjustment. Just felt i should correct you to save you from any future embarisment.

RE: Simmons Pro Hunter
I know that.... The AO adjusts the parallax, that's all. At 300 yards, it is still clearly in focus, but I wouldn't try to shoot a 30-30 at that range anyways. I don't think I said it clearly in the previous post. Oops... [:-]
