Not really that much of a gap there between it and the 243 Win. I never cared for the 25-06 much anyways. Too much overbore.

The .243,25.06 and the.270 are all good rounds and each is better than the others in certain situations.

Yeah I know about the ballistics tables. Most of them are based on the 25-06 barrel length of 26". My point was if you own a 243 Win there is little justification to run out an buy a 25-06 because you aren't gaining that much for the extra cost, extra powder, and extra noise.

Then why would anyone who owns a 25.06 buy a .270 as they are a much closer comparision than .243 and 25.06. Both the 25.06 and .270 use the same basic case. The .243 not only uses smaller bullets but also has less powder to push them.

RE: 25 06????
well put mossy. The 25-06 is a devastating deer killer and a smokiin varmit round. you 270 (hereafter refferred to as elk wounder)guys need to read his original post, he says he already has an 06, the 270(elk wounder) and its heavier bullets is useless on "BIGGER" game when you have a 06. I think that most would agree that the 25-06 is more siuted to varmits than the 270(elk wounder), but the 270(elk wounder) is slightly more siuted to deer. If you handload the 25-06 is simply a wonderfull varmit/deer caliber. if you handload, by all means go w/ the 25-06

The original post asked a simple question is the 25.06 suitible for mulies and yotes. It was not asked if the .270 would be better considering the other guns avalible to the original poster. When the thead got off topic I felt the need to respond.
