Its very simple. First remove the hood on the front ramp and you will see 2 screws, remove them with a GOOD screwdriver and remove the front sight. The rear sight is a dovetail and need to be tapped out to the side. Use a piece of hard wood or plastic that is cut square, place against the metal plate that is in the dovetail and lightly tap the wood/plastic with a hammer and it should come right out. Now go to the smith and get some blind screws to fill the front sight screw holes and they also sell a blank to fill the dovetail slot. Dresses it up a bit and protects the areas in the event you return to open sights some day. Save the sights.

RE: Marlin 336 - Remove Iron Sights
I just want to replace the front sight with a little higher one to use with a Williams Peep sight. I'll be darned if I can't get the sight to slide out of the groove. I used a ball peen hammer and nail punch and rapped it pretty good and couldn't get it to budge. Any ideas?
