Do any of you guys put anything on the threads of your screws when putting on scope mounts. Ive did it both ways, just checking to see what other people do. Will be putting some on my new 300 win mag and was wondering if i should put something on the thread for a gun that has more recoil.

For mounting the base(s) you should use LocTite or other thread locker. As for the scope ring screws I don't recommend doing that. The LocTite I recommend is the Blue #242 which is removeable.DON'T use LocTite Red #262 you'll never remove the screw again. That Red is some powerful stuff.I've heard but never tried using Clear finger nail polish.Any auto parts store will have the LocTite 242.I use both 242 and 262 at work. Trust me the 262 is permanent especially on small screws. You shouldn't need anything on the scope rings screws. If you do something isn't right

Kirkl you're welcome. If the Clear nail polish works for you and you're satisfied with the result keep using it.I have access to LocTite so that's what I use.
