As others have said if it is the Ultra Corelockt or Corelockt ultra it is supposedly a good big game bullet whether in same class as a Partition remains to be seen, the Partition has a very good track record. Comparing the regular corelockt with a partition is rather silly.

I like the partitions. I have never tried them in a gun that didn't shoot them pretty well. I can echo one thing though. My Browning A-Bolt 308 shoots Core-Lokts better than anything. My 30-06 Remington pump shoots honest 1 1/2 inch or smaller groups with anything I have tried in it. That would be Partitions, Sierra Pro-Hunters and Ballistic tips. I have some Core-Lokts loaded for it but have not tried them yet. I would try some Partitions if I were you and if they shoot well I would use THEM for elk.

I shoot 180 gr. Core-Loks in my .300 Wm for moose. I tried the partitions but they didn't shoot very good in my gun (Win-M70) My buddy shoots a Tikka .300 WM. and the partitions shoot good in his gun. Try them they might work. But for me the core-loks have done a great job on moose and they are very accurate to boot.

Fireblade, your right on the mark. If you have a clean shot at the vitals of an elk, the Core Lokt is more the sufficient to drop the animal in his tracks. Now if you are a shoulder shooter, better use the Partitions. I've had one to many Partition bullets that didn't expand on impact. The Core Lokt will expand and penetrate with a shocking power to effect a clean and fast kill.
